How we look after your data

What Yogatara collects, why, who helps us handle it, and how to reach us. Last updated 25 September 2026.

1. Who we are

Yogatara is operated by OCCULTLAB CODE PRIVATE LIMITED (“we”, “us”), a company registered in India at B-40-a, Parbhu Marg, Tilak Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Jaipur, Rajasthan 302004, India. This policy covers the Yogatara website and web app, and explains how we handle personal data when you use them.

By using Yogatara you agree to this policy, which forms part of our Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the service.

2. Information we collect

We collect what you give us, and some information automatically while you use the app.

Your account

Your name and email address, a password (stored only as a one-way hash) or your Google sign-in, and anything you add to your profile: gender, birth details, a profile picture, a phone number if you turn on two-factor sign-in, and why you use Yogatara.

Charts you save

The name, birth date, time and place of every chart you create, whether your own or a client's, and the notes you write on them. If you enter someone else's details, please make sure they are happy for you to do so.

Your settings and conversations

Your astrology preferences (ayanamsa, chart style and the rest), and your Jyotisha AI conversations so that you can return to them.

Payments

The plan you buy, the amount, coupon, GST details and payment status, and your invoices. Card, UPI and bank details are entered with Razorpay and are never stored by us.

Location

Your browser's location, only if you allow it, to open a chart for where you are now. The places you type are looked up with Google Places to find their coordinates and time zone.

Usage and device data

Pages visited, features used, device, browser and IP address, collected by our analytics tools, and a notification token if you choose to receive push notifications.

3. How we use it

  • To calculate the charts, dashas, panchang and other results you ask for.
  • To keep your account, saved charts, notes and settings available on any device you sign in from.
  • To process payments, issue GST invoices and manage your subscription.
  • To answer your questions in Jyotisha AI and keep that conversation history.
  • To send the messages the service needs, such as email verification codes and password resets, and notifications you have turned on.
  • To understand how the app is used so we can fix problems and improve it.
  • To prevent fraud and misuse, and to meet our legal and tax obligations.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your charts or notes to advertise to you.

4. Services that handle your data

We use a small number of service providers to run Yogatara. Each receives only what it needs for the job below:

ProviderWhat for
RazorpayPayment processing. Your card, UPI or bank details go to Razorpay, not to us.
GoogleSign-in with Google, place search (Google Places) and website analytics (Google Analytics).
Microsoft ClarityUsage analytics showing how pages are used, so we can improve them.
Firebase (Google)Delivering push notifications, only if you allow them.
CloudinaryStoring and serving images, such as profile pictures.
AI model providers, including OpenAIAnswering Jyotisha AI questions. Only the conversation, and the chart you attach, is sent.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, for example to tax authorities or in response to a lawful request.

5. Cookies and local storage

We store a small sign-in cookie and keep your session and display preferences (such as light or dark theme) in your browser's local storage, so you stay signed in and the app opens the way you left it. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set their own cookies to measure how the site is used.

You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, though signing in will not work without the sign-in cookie.

6. Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your account, saved charts, notes and conversations while your account is open, so they are there when you return. Payment and invoice records are kept for as long as tax law requires, even after an account is closed.

To delete your account and its data, email us at admin@yogatara.app from the address on the account, or follow the steps on the delete account page.

7. Security

Data travels to and from Yogatara over encrypted HTTPS connections, passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, and access to our systems is limited to the people who run them. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to:

  • Access: tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy.
  • Correct: fix anything that is wrong or out of date. Most of it you can edit yourself in Settings.
  • Delete: erase your account and data, apart from records the law requires us to keep.
  • Withdraw consent: stop optional processing, such as notifications or marketing email, at any time.

Write to us at admin@yogatara.app and we will respond as soon as we can.

9. Changes to this policy
